Iron Decon?

Removal of iron particles

Iron decontamination products are designed to chemically react with iron particles, such as brake dust and rail dust, that can become embedded in the paintwork. These particles are not easily removed through regular washing methods and can cause damage if left untreated. Iron decontamination products break down the iron particles and allow them to be safely rinsed away, leaving the paint clean and free from these contaminants.

Prevents paint corrosion

Iron particles, particularly brake dust, can contain corrosive elements that can damage the paintwork over time. If left unaddressed, these particles can begin to corrode the clear coat, leading to paint deterioration and even rust formation. By performing iron decontamination, you remove these particles and minimize the risk of corrosion, thereby preserving the condition of the paint.

Enhances paint clarity

Iron particles that have bonded to the paintwork can create tiny orange or brown spots, commonly referred to as iron fallout. These spots can be unsightly and detract from the overall appearance of the vehicle. Iron decontamination effectively removes these spots, improving the paint clarity and restoring a uniform finish.

Prepares the surface for polishing and waxing

Similar to clay bar treatment, iron decontamination is often performed as a preparatory step before polishing or waxing the vehicle. By removing iron particles, the paint surface becomes smoother, allowing subsequent detailing steps to be more effective. Polishing becomes easier and more efficient, and wax or sealant adhesion is improved, resulting in a better overall finish.

Long-term paint protection

By regularly performing iron decontamination, you can help protect the paintwork from further damage. Removing iron particles prevents them from causing paint corrosion and deterioration, which can extend the life of the paint and preserve its appearance.
